Call for Submissions: Spring/Summer 2010 Edition
The staff at the Yale Journal of International Affairs is pleased to announce that we are now accepting submissions for our Spring/Summer 2010 issue, to be published in April. Though submissions relating to all issues of international affairs will be accepted, our Spring/Summer 2010 issue will have a spotlight on understanding contemporary meanings of "security."
Description
The Yale Journal of International Affairs is a graduate student-run academic journal that publishes articles, interviews, book reviews and op-eds by professors, graduate students and policy practitioners on topics of international focus. To view the online version of our most recently published issue, including commentary from UK Prime Minister Tony Blair, please visit www.yalejournal.org.
Upcoming Issue
The Spring/Summer 2010 issue will revolve around the theme of “security.” In this regard, we are conducting a series of interviews with experts about contemporary understandings of "security,” both from a policy perspective and from the perspective of the academic discipline of security studies. Our aim is to explore the various ways in which the term "security" has come to be employed in current discourse, especially given the increasing attention paid to the potential security concerns of issues such as climate change, demographics, public health and development. We encourage submissions offering new conceptualizations of what "security" means today. Confirmed contributors to this issue include Ambassador John Negroponte, Ambassador Robert L. Hutchings, Professor John Ikenberry and Professor Mary Kaldor.
Submissions
The Yale Journal of International Affairs accepts submissions of articles (3,000 to 5,000 words), book reviews (2,000 words or less) and op-eds (800 words or less). All submissions should conform to the conventions of the Chicago Manual of Style, 15th Edition. Citations should take the form of endnotes, and should be formatted according to the Yale Journal of International Affairs Style Guide, available on the YJIA website. Submissions for the upcoming issue should be submitted electronically as Microsoft Word documents to jason.warner@yalejournal.org no later than February 28, 2010. Accepted authors will be contacted shortly thereafter to coordinate later editing stages with YJIA staff. Authors should also include a cover letter indicating the author's name, institutional affiliation, contact information (including email address and phone number) as well as a brief biography. Additionally, a 100 word abstract should accompany all submissions.
Please feel free to share this call for submissions with appropriate faculty, students or practitioners, and please do not hesitate to contact us with further questions.
