Masthead & Editor's Note: Spring 2024

Editor’s Note

As we celebrate the twentieth year of the Yale Journal of International Affairs (YJIA), we find ourselves at a pivotal juncture in global affairs. The world continues to grapple with multifaceted challenges, from the evolving dynamics of international relations and the pressures on the global economy to the quest for justice and governance in diverse cultural contexts. Reflecting on the past decade of (de)globalization, this issue looks into the challenges, progress, and the future of a shifting world order.

This edition includes the most compelling pieces selected through our author-blind review process. Our contributors delve into a wide array of themes, including cultural diplomacy, global care chains, multilateralism, geopolitical partnerships, development finance, transitional justice, and the intersection of politics and sports. These articles are intended to spark meaningful dialogue and provide actionable recommendations for policymakers, practitioners, and scholars alike.

The past two decades of YJIA witnessed the evolution of a growing community passionate about global affairs at Yale Jackson School and beyond. This year, we have assembled the most diverse editorial team to date, comprised of students from Yale Jackson School of Global Affairs, School of Management, School of the Environment, and Graduate School of Arts and Sciences. A heartfelt thank you goes to our dedicated editorial team and the authors who submitted their exceptional work.

We invite you to engage with these pieces, reflect on their implications, and continue to contribute to the vibrant discourse on international affairs.

Sincerely,

The YJIA Leadership Team
